V:TES All-time Best Multiplayer CCG

Jan 30, 2004 - InQuest Gamer, an industry-leading magazine, has named White Wolf’s Vampire: The Eternal Struggle as the best multiplayer collectible card game of all time.

The article, appearing in the March 2004 issue of InQuest Gamer (#107), examines all the top collectible card games based on their play in games with more than two players, examining (among others) the variety of viable strategies in multiplayer games and how much interaction went on between players. Vampire: The Eternal Struggle (or VTES) soared to the top of the list, eclipsing such well-known games as Lord of the Rings and Magic: The Gathering. “[VTES] combines the best of one-on-one play with multiplayer while remaining balanced,” said InQuest, and paid special attention to importance of diplomacy and politics in the game. “The politics of the setting shine through in the CCG… Diplomacy isn’t just an aspect of [VTES], it’s a necessity.”

VEKN Announces Changes to Its Championship Tournaments

Jan 23, 2004 - The V:EKN is coordinating four invitational V:TES continental championship tournaments in 2004, in Australia, Europe, North America, and South America.

To play in a championship tournament, players will first have to qualify by finishing in the top 25% (rounded up) of the non-qualified players at one of the qualifying tournaments. Qualifying in any qualifier enables a player to play in any and all of the four continental championships. The finalists from the 2003 championships are pre-qualified for the 2004 championships.

Once a player qualifies, he or she is free to play in other qualifiers (the qualifiers are all open tournaments). But such previously-qualified players do not count when determining the new qualifiers at that tournament.

South East Regional Qualifier Announced

Tourney Report

January 19th, 2004 - I played a non-Tzimisce deck in the Major Boon tourney over the weekend. *gasp* It was a potence/protean deck with lots of Sabbat vampires at least. Have a look if you'd like. It did moderately well.

Deck addition: the Longest Road

January 7th, 2004 - This deck is all about the build-up. I call it the longest road because you're almost in constant building stage, but once you're setup you'll be in great position unless the game ended an hour ago. On the plus side, there are a lot of tools included to keep you alive during those cold winter nights there's just not enough fresh parts laying around the lab. Overall the deck has a nice pick-up or weekly playgroup feel to it. Finally, being mono Tzimisce and featuring the Little Tailor gives it a nice thematic as well.

Happy New Year

January 2nd, 2004 - Nothing new to report except it's 2004 almost time for the big Ghenna. It will be interesting to see how White Wolf finishes off it's WOD lines.
